| The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that goaltenders Brad Phillips and Dan Rosen have signed with the team for the 2010-11 hockey season Phillips, 21, is a 2007 draft pick of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers (7th round, 182 overall) out of the NCAA Division 1 University of Notre Dame. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound backstop saw action in five games as a freshman in 2007-08, going 4-1-0 with a 1.53 goals against average (GAA), a .923 save percentage and one shutout. A knee injury sidelined him during the 2008-09 campaign, but he return last season to play in 10 games, posting a 2-3-3 mark with a 2.47 GAA, a .911 save percentage and one shutout. "I'm excited to begin my pro career with the Killer Bees," Phillips said. "I know from talking to people around the game that it's a great atmosphere." Before Notre Dame, the Wyandotte, Mich., native spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program. During the 2006-07 season, he appeared in 24 games for the Under-18 team, going 15-5-2 with a 2.33 GAA and a .913 save percentage along with a pair of shutouts. Rosen, 23, spent the last four seasons at Brown University, a NCAA Division 1 program in Providence, R.I. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Syosset, N.Y., native appeared in 76 games for the Bears from 2006-10. Overall he posted a 16-39-11 record, a .915 save percentage, and a 3.29 GAA. Statistically, his best season came as a freshman when he posted a 9-12-4 record along with a .920 save percentage and a 2.74 GAA. He earned the Kevin R. Pope Memorial Trophy as the team's most outstanding rookie as voted by teammates. |
